Pray

Prayer is communication with our father in heaven. He created us to have fellowship with Him and praying to Him regularly means that we are in a continuous relationship with Him. Throughout the bible we are told to pray.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Philippians 4:6 ESV

This just about sums it up. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray He taught them ‘the Lord’s prayer, which most of us know – Bless His name – our Father in heaven, His kingdom come and His will be done on earth as in heaven – then asking – daily bread – forgive our sins, we forgive others, help to resist temptation, deliver us from the evil one’. The more we pray the more we build a relationship with our heavenly Father. Thanking Him, praising Him, worshiping Him, repenting of sin, then asking for our needs. We don’t want to just go to the Father with a shopping list of needs, but to communicate with Him for who He is.

This isn’t just a new Testament thing as even in ancient times Abraham, Moses, David all prayed to God seeking His help, His guidance in every situation. Daniel knew that it was against the law to pray to anyone but King Darius, but despite that he continued as usual to pray to His Lord God, three times a day and at an open window. And yes he did get thrown to the lions for disobeying, but God rescued him and no harm came to him.

God is always faithful and will protect His people if they seek His help and guidance.

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV

So, especially in this present age when God appears low on people’s agenda, each and every one of us, His people, need to pray for our nation for people to turn away from ungodliness and ‘mammon’ and pray fervently for our nation to be saved and this land to be healed. Despite people having turned away from God, we need Him to give wisdom to the leaders of our country, to soften people’s hearts and to save all those who are perishing. Save our nation Lord, heal our nation so they will turn to you and be saved.
