Transforming Lives for Good

Make Lunch

School holidays are not just a break from the classroom. For many, they are also a break from hot meals.

For the thirteen weeks of school holidays this year, many pupils in the UK will not eat a hot meal each day. At school more than 1.2 million pupils who may otherwise go without are eligible to receive free school meals. Outside of term time though, free school meals are not available and many pupils are left without regular hot food.

We are a small team of local Christian volunteers who have been working together since 2014 to serve lower income families in our community. School holidays can be a very difficult time for families whose children would normally receive a free, cooked meal at school. Make Lunch Club aims to fill the hunger gap by providing a meal, twice per week, to these children who may otherwise go without.

First Visit: What to Expect

Before the current coronavirus pandemic, Make Lunch ran drop-in sessions twice per week during every school holiday, however during 2020, due to all the current restrictions in place to protect us we have been supporting our families by delivering food and activity parcels to our registered families instead.

COVID-19 Pandemic
Due to current lockdown guidelines we are unable to deliver our normal programme. Please watch this page, or visit our facebook page, to get up to date information on what we will be doing over the holiday periods.
