That is faith

One definition of faith in ‘Wikipedia’ is ‘ believing in something without evidence’ or as Hebrews 11 v 1 puts it ‘It (faith) is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen, It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see’ .(NLT) then Hebrews chapter 11 goes on to give examples through scripture of great faith : God’s creation; Abel’s offering; Enoch who was taken to heaven without dying; Noah building the ark when he had never seen rain, then one of the most well-known stories of faith was Abraham in Genesis 5 v 5 when God said to him ‘Look up into the stars and count the stars if you can. Your descendants will be like that, too many to count! And Abram believed the Lord and the Lord declared him righteous because of his faith’ Even though Abram was too old and his wife was barren he still believed what God promised would happen. We also know he tried to make this happen by sleeping with his wife’s servant Haggai and produced a son Ishmael. But Abram (or Abraham as he was later named by God, Father of nations) continued to believe that he would become father of a whole nation. We know that Abraham and Sarah had a child Isaac. When you think about that amazing story – if we were in the same position as Abraham would we have the faith to believe a promise of God as it was many years before it actually happened.

I personally had a promise from God almost 21 years ago about my sight. I have never doubted that this will happen but I don’t know when. My faith in believing that is strong and when I pray into it I say ‘I believe it, I receive it, I believe it’s done in Jesus Name’

as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal

2 Corinthians 4:18 ESV

Also in 2 Corinthians 5 v 7 ‘ We walk by faith and not by sight’. So, if we are believing God for fulfilment of a promise let’s just believe it, not dependant on what we see with our eyes, but just believe in God and Trust in Him in Jesus Name.

If you are still not sure about believing without seeing look up examples in the Bible, of which there are many, like the well know one of the centurion who wanted Jesus to heal his servant but said to Him ‘Lord I am not worthy that you should come into my home. Just say the Word from where you are and my servant will be healed’. Matthew 8 v 8 NLT. That is faith!
