Come as you are

We sing a song at church that never fails to touch my heart. It may pull at your heart too or maybe not, but I felt the words are worth sharing with you today.

Come out of sadness from wherever you’ve been
Come broken hearted let rescue begin, come find your mercy
Oh sinner, come kneel
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can’t heal.
So, lay down your burdens, lay down your shame
All who are broken, lift up your face
Oh wanderer, come home, you’re not too far
So, lay down your hurt, lay down your heart
Come as you are
There’s hope for the hopeless and all those who’ve strayed
Come sit at the table come taste the grace
There’s rest for the weary, rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow That Heaven can’t cure
Come as you are, fall in His arms
Come as you are, there’s joy for the morning
Oh sinner, be still.
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can’t heal

David Crowder Band Kingsway songs

I know that many times I have spoken in my blogs about God being available at all times, no matter what we are going through, no matter what time it is day or night. We need to come to Him, to let go of our sorrows our burdens, our pain, our rejection, our hurts, our suffering of any sort, and lay them at the foot of the cross. We don’t have to put on any act or show a brave face but go to Him just as we are. Because our Father in heaven loves us so much He wants us to come to Him acknowledging that He is our Father and He loves us. All He wants to do is comfort us, show us His compassion and His love. All these things are freely available to us but as always it’s up to us to go to Him. He won’t intrude on our suffering but is always there ready and willing to accept us into His loving arms.

Often in the months before and after Christmas many people suffer a sense of emptiness, especially if they have lost a loved one around this time or something bad has impacted their lives. I encourage you to lay down any burdens and allow His love to heal you, set you free with a joyful heart.
